Why must the media emphasis that a psychotic killer liked to play videogames?

Why must the media emphasis that a psychotic killer liked to play videogames? That is so not fucking true. It pisses me off to the extent that I want to go kill someone. (note the irony =P)

Most of the time, these killers who had emphasis of being a videogamer placed on them had some serious psychological issues. You see, it is the screwed upness in their head that causes such violent acts. Violent videogames do not cause or inspire someone, especially a normal person, to do such horrible things. Being teased, ignored, demotivated, tormented, coming from a unhappy background, in a nutshell living a shitty life, will cause almost anyone to go crazy. This is worse on people who cannot express themselves or vent their frustration. I like to think that videogames allows one to vent such frustration.

Anyway, an excerpt from my chat with Lawrence makes a pretty damn good argument about all this.

pisses me off

especially since school kids who u attempt to hang out with make u feel like shit, and teachers just keep making u depressed coz they make u fail at lit

because the videogamer kid is mentally stable, he ought to know reality from virtual reality, and has no need to kill real ppl

And another thing, ever notice how cliched these high school shooters have become? Many wore trenchcoats, they all claim, or the media claims, that there were some videogames behind it all, they were good students (A or B grades), generally quiet and marginalised, and had broken families or whatever.

Now if trenchcoats weren't so damn difficult to clean, (you have to dry clean them, which means money) and if there were more winter months, I would be wearing one. And you ought to be afraid. I would satisfy a majority of the cliched criteria to be a high school killer, except in uni instead.

Eat your damn food.

I enjoy working at Han's Cafe. It's one of the rare jobs which allows you to look down on people, yet serve them. However, one thing still pisses me off, and that's uneaten food.

I could generalise and say that there are two ways to leave behind uneaten food. Firstly, theres the small eater or "just can't quite finish the meal". This is where a person who has just one meal (the $7.95 one which is an individual serving of rice and dish) can't finish the last piece of chicken. I don't mind cleaning that up because I can still easily stack the plates on top of each other, even with a piece of chicken making things off balance. However, it's JUST ONE FUCKING PIECE. Eat it damn you!

The other way to leave behind uneaten food is to order a fucking huge amount of food that the average person cannot eat. In an extreme case, some person orders a meal, noodles, dish and rice, and the other partner orders noodles, dish, rice and fried rice for the two to share. To make things specific, person A orders green curry chicken rice, mee goreng, beef basil, and steamed rice. Person B orders phad thai, lemon prawns, steam rice, and they share a pineapple fried rice. ARE THEY FUCKING INSANE?!?! Just because they are big white people, and I'm a short, skinny Asian in comparison, does not grant them the ability to eat that much food.
And once they've left, they leave behind many messed up plates still full of food for poor me to clean up. Yeah, they play with their bloody food. No wonder why they don't want to take it home.

Another big eater is the rice man. They order a meal, as well as noodles and rice. Well, the noodles are to share, but an additional serving of rice to go with the rice and individual dish? Not even a rice eating Chinaman will do that. That's like a 2.5 staple(rice/noodles) to 1 meat/veg ratio. Guess what is left when I go clean up? Bits of meat left on the meal plate, one whole serving of rice less one spoonful, and chunks of noodle left on the noodle plate.

Moral of the story, don't order too much. White people are strictly potatoe/bread/pasta eaters, so don't go rice/noodle crazy. Don't play with your food. If you have left overs, ask me nicely to put it in a takeaway container. And if there is a few chunks of meat left behind, just eat it. A few more bites will not burst your stomach. And why? BECAUSE I HAVE TO CLEAN UP.

If you are going to make a mess, make it a tidy mess. It takes a lot less effort to clean up. And you generally have to clean up even if you do not make a mess.

The Master of Stealth's guide to being reasonably happy, or something like that

Well, using aliases, The Lover's Gambit, considers me to be wise. Yes, some of my silly little "gems" of knowledge are actually quite useful.

Stealthiness has little to do with happiness. I am not too sure what impact it has on success either. But I do know that stealthiness allows one to avoid or get out of messy situations. A very useful maneuver in my books.
There are two main points on how to stay under the radar.
1- Make your entrances and exits silent. And while you're at it, make sure it doesn't attract any visual attention either.
2- In fact, staying under the radar requires silence. So shut up!
Do the opposite to this if you want to be detected on the metaphorical radar.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Subconscious patterns affect our lives. What goes on in our mind subliminally often ends up selffulfilling. In other words, if you firmly believe that you are poor and will never get rich, you probably will end up poor because whenever there is excess cash, somehow you go and spend it, or beyond your means. I just read about this in some book, so I'm guessing one should formulate a nice subconscious pattern that will get you far in life.

Nobody can make you miserable without your permission. Don't let other people tell you how to feel. For example, if you had a bloody long day at uni/work etc, and someone goes "you must be tired", DAMNIT! That is the last thing you want to be reminded about. Create a mental firewall, and don't take that kind of crap.

Honesty is the best policy. An honest statement is short and to the point. People respect you for being honest. Besides, lieing takes up more brainpower as you have to concoct a story and follow through with it. Unfortunately, this is very hard to adhere to, as lieing can often get us out of messy situations, temporarily.

The customer is always right. By this, I mean that at times one should admit they are wrong. Infact, most of the time, YOU are WRONG. (that had nothing to do with the brainwashing and psychological torture I received from the Lit Luftwaffe) Apply this to other situations.

Respect yourself. No one respects someone who cannot respect themself. You can influence people once you can respect yourself.

Just smile and nod like you know what they're talking about.

You can please people by letting them believe what they want to believe.

Show that you care. Give an empathetic response rather than an excuse, for example.

A fair chunk of this came from a book. So there's the acknowledgements... if only I could find the book for its title and stuff.
